Rob Rosen is a great and consistent author. All of his books are chock-ful of funny phrases, sexy encounters, and edgy melodrama. All reasons I love his writing and read everything he writes."Fierce" is true to his form and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's the first of his books to go so far into the sci-fi realm with technology beyond anything currently available. But not too distraction. And the sex scences remain hot while not so far to be erotica, especially as the main characters are just finishing high school.
Overall a lovely "beach read" that kept my interest and provided great enjoyment. Another hit from a great author. Looking forward to the next one!

If you’ve ever read any of Rob’s books, you know to expect a straight-talking (pun intended, it’s more gaily forward than straight) stream-of-consciousness style that grabs you from page one and holds on until the end. The creativity in this story takes the reader even farther to the edges of suspended disbelief than Rob’s past works. And THAT is saying something.
A boy raised by wolves in Montana. With superhero aspirations. A shadowy ex. Teenaged angst and hubris. Just try and stop me from reading that!
When writing gay comedy, there’s always a danger in going for the easy, one dimensional joke. The double entendre. The gimme laugh. Rob doesn’t do that. His characters are multidimensional, all delightfully flawed, yet engaging and sympathetic because of their complexity.
I’m trying to imagine a librarian categorizing this. Gay. Superhero. GeekFic. YA. RomCom. It’s all those things. But what it mostly is is a great first person view inside the mind of a funny, randy, infectiously appealing superhero. Who’s on a journey far more engaging – and certainly funnier – than leaping a tall building in a single bound. Look! Up in the sky! An interesting a relatable superhero. Who was raised by wolves!
Ultimately this book is about gaining self-awareness – a sense of who you are and how you got to where you are. That’s such a universal human need that I wouldn’t limit the appeal of this book to people who read gay comedic fiction but rather would recommend it to anyone who likes vivid characterization.
And a heapin’ helpin’ of snark, of course. This IS, after all a Rob Rosen book.
Been a fan of the author's unique novels since his (in)famous debut work, Sparkle. Loved them all, but I believe this is best after that first novel. Story of a typical gay teen, who happens to have been raised by wolves, and has a few super-powers ... what's not to like?? Incredibly creative and humorous, though also captivating and suspenseful. Don't miss this one!
1) Laugh out loud funny with lots of grins and groans, which I'm sure the author hoped for. Super cute and adorable. The romance is sweet, the plot solid and the supporting cast well drawn. The hero of the story steals the show, however, with his completely uncool sense of humor and unspoiled moral compass. I was cheering him on from the very first page.
2) I enjoyed "Fierce." I like the quirkiness of the character, the self-doubts he has, the teenager-filled moments. He's not a superhero in the true sense of the word, but he is interesting. The writing was crisp, the similes popped out to entertain and the story made me smile. Definitely YA-ish, and recommend.
OK FOR WHAT IT WAS
Could not read it through. Franky bad character development/deployment. If someone is a genius, it DOES NOT mean they can do EVERYTHING!!! And franky MCs were not likable (at least to me).
Rob had me guessing throughout. Is he a werewolf? Are you sure? If he's not a werewolf, what exactly is he?
Interesting main character, to say the least. Smooth progression from page 1 to end. Highly recommended.
